What a pleasant surprise to see you here.

My name is PUUTELA. Right now it’s all caps, it looks better that way. I am a photographer, based most likely far away from you. This webpage is a new experiment to showcase my artistic work.

My background in photography is in photojournalism and documentary, but I left that behind a decade ago. After ending my photojournalistic career, I had to put the camera away for a few years to gain a new perspective. These images are mostly the result of that.

Something had changed during the hiatus: people were replaced by imprints, horizontal became vertical, B&W turned into colour, and the mundane and boring became interesting.

Running a family, hobbies, and a regular job means that I have two options: to shoot the boring stuff around me or not to take pictures at all.

“Imprints” is basically what I always did as a photographer, but now without any kind of constraints on subject matter or journalistic purpose. My photographs are still based on documenting reality, but they are not about what I see around me, they are about how I feel it.

The website is a work in progress. Most likely, I will revamp everything multiple times. Don’t be surprised if you someday see a fully B&W portfolio instead. Knowing myself, that kind of shift could be totally possible.

If you are interested in purchasing some of the images as a print, please be in contact. For now, the print sales are still an idea in progress, but once I sort out the details, I will set up the store for easy access.

Please hook me up with an email if you have something on your mind.
